Dhantrayodashi, also known as Dhanteras is the first day of celebration of the five-day long festival of Diwali or Deepawali. "Dhan" means wealth and "Teras" signifies the thirteenth dayPray to a photo of Dhanvantari. The mantra for Dhanvantari is: Om Dhanvanatarayae Namah.  By repeating this mantra, you can attain good health. Particularly Ayurvedic practitioners or vaidyas (doctors) can worship Shri Dhanvantari in their clinics and their offices on Dhanteras 2015.

On this day Hindu’s worship the Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Ganesha together. There is custom of purchasing new things and bring it at home which make the meaning that Lakshmi came home

The festival of Dhanteras falls in the month of Kartika (October-November) on the trayodashi of Kartik Krishna Paksha (the thirteenth day of the dark fortnight). It usually falls one or two days before the main Diwali day, that is Lakshmi Puja. This year Dhanteras will be celebrated on 09th November, 2015 (Monday).
